I originally met Owen around 2002 when he was freelancing as a copywriter at the design agency where I worked at the time. Our paths crossed again just over a year later when both of us ended up working for the same event management company.

In early 2005 he started thinking about striking out on his own and asked me to liven up a logo he was considering using. It was a simple wordmark set in P22 Cezanne but felt quite lifeless even though it had a metallic texture applied to it.

He didn’t want to stray from a metallic effect, so I set about exploring some alternate treatments. The end result was this dynamic liquid gold effect which holds up surprisingly well even after all these years.
